Joan has learned and accepted though the years that a morning conversation with me is unidirectional. Fortunately, she is a great planner and task master, so by midnight yesterday we were both packed and ready to go, clearly aware of the lack of brain power I possess in the morning. To be clear, I was packed by midnight, Joan was done significantly sooner.
Peggy and Bob did us the great favor of picking us up at 6:30 and taking us to the airport. Check in was a breeze and we were off to the TSA examination. I have been spoiled as late as I am TSA pre heck, which means I can use a special lane because I have already been exposed to 10 times the lifetime maximum of radiation and latex gloves. Joan doesn't qualify, so I dutifully joined her in the regular line. As we slowly moved forward, a TSA agent was spot checking boarding passes and commented that why was I in the wrong line. I pointed to Joan and she remarked why don't I get her upgraded to precheck status? Joan then granted me the freedom to go through the Precheck line and she would meet me on the other side.
You know those commercials, or scenes in a movie where things go into slow motion and the light is just glowing and you can just sense the joy emanating from the scene? Yeah, that was me skipping through the fast pass lane.
So now we are on our flight to Charlotte where we have a slight layover before boarding our flight to Rome.
There is nothing bad about sitting in First Class. Breakfast is about to be served and then we shall both be engaged in our iPads watching Breaking Bad. Everyone remember, we will have not seen any episode since Sept 1st. So no posting spoilers....
